What began as the simple discovery of my blood type during a traumatic event, #bpositive evolved into a powerful mantra and the foundation of my work in healing and resilience.
I'm an educator and public speaker dedicated to supporting victims of trauma and those who serve them. I share practical strategies to foster recovery and resilience, informed not only by research but also by my own lived experience.
As a survivor of a violent attack that left me with a traumatic brain injury, a reconstructed jaw, and the heavy label of "victim" within the criminal justice system, I know firsthand the gaps in care and the power of meaningful support.
Through expressive therapies, I reclaimed a sense of self and joy. Now, I help others—especially women navigating trauma and the systems meant to protect them—find strength in storytelling and bibliotherapy.
I bring both humour and heart to my work, drawing on training from Second City in Stand Up, Storytelling, and Writing Sadness Through Humour. I also collaborate with my husband, Rob Tardik, to create healing experiences through music and performance.
I hold a graduate degree in education from Ontario Tech University and an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Toronto. My research focuses on how bibliotherapy and memoir can support emotional recovery from gender-based violence and social trauma.
